My Dreams

We all have dreams. Remember when we were kids. No dream was too impossible for any kid. Sigh… If only we never faltered and give up on our dreams. Anyway, my dream was to work hard, start a business. Employ all the beggars, people who are poor, bankrupts, people who lost their jobs, people who were oppressed by their colleagues/bosses, the underprivileged etc… together with the help of my family and relatives building a business getting everyone rich and having a happy life. And we will all continue to recruit and help all these ‘poor’ people get rich and healthy. Sooner or later there will be no more poverty, vagrants etc…That is my dream. It’s a really big dream. Therefore I really need lots of help. So if you are willing to step up and join me in my cause, contact me and together we help the world one step at a time. People must remember that there is always hope. There are other people out there, like me, who is willing to help. All you need to do is look. It saddens me when I read about poverty or people give up and taking their lives because they lost hope. Don’t you want to prove your critics, people who oppressed you and people who ridiculed you wrong. You can become successful and rich. Better than them. What’s stopping you? It’s you - yourself. You can take charge of your life and your future. You have the power in you to do it. Why let them control you? You’re not a puppet, their puppet. So get out of their stranglehold and say out loud, “Enough! Enough already! I will take charge of my life now! This very moment!” I too was ridiculed, criticized and look down upon by many. These are the things that I really want to do before I depart from this world. I want to contribute to all mankind before I go…. I really get very passionate when I talk about my dreams. Excuse me for that.

Who’s in control of your life?

Everyone will say that it is themselves. But lots of people actually let others control them. Eg. “If you go, then I will go.” “If you do it, so will I.” “Hey, what do you think? Should I …..” Think about it. Who actually dictates your life? You or someone else? If you really think about it, we let others control us. Don’t you want to get that control back. Who controls when you wake up, when you go to sleep, what time you work, how much you earn, when and where you work, when and where you can take a break or take a vacation? etc…. I read in a book that we are all so worried what others think of us. That’s why we constantly seek affirmation. But if you really think about it, Nobody cares. People are always thinking about themselves. It’s their problems that they are thinking of not yours. Who cares if you get poor or has some problems. They are more worried about their problems and how to solve it. Not solve your problems. So don’t worry too much what others think of you. They’ll be too busy thinking about their problems. So, I have a solution to solve lots of people’s problems. Want to find out what and how I can help you and them, contact me. The reason why I can do it is because it is my job to provide the solution and that’s how I make a living. If you can provide a solution that most people want, then you can make a decent living off it. Imagine this – if you suddenly found a cure for cancer. Do you think that you can provide this solution and really get rich? I provide solutions to lots of people problems. Do you want to do that too? Contact me then!

Fend for yourself

My mother had taught me – Stand on your own 2 feet. Fend for yourself. There are lots of people out there who depend on other people. Why? I don’t know. They are able to work but are too lazy to do it. They depend too much on others to help them. I have come across many who complain and complain but do nothing to improve their current sorry state. Or they may even shun the opportunity when presented, making all sorts of excuses to justify their actions. They expect the charities, government and society to help them but will not lift a finger to help themselves. We all have to fend for ourselves. There is so much the government can do. If you really want to have a better life or provide a better life for you family then you must make the extra effort to achieve it. Complaining or lamenting will not help improve your situation. Contact me for an opportunity if you are serious.

Sense of Urgency. Procrastination is a disease.

I realize that having a sense of urgency is one of the reason why people succeed while others fail. I will tell you 3 stories I came across. I too did not do well because of not having a sense of urgency and procrastinated.

Story 1
They came to Singapore from abroad seeking to land themselves jobs that can make them rich. She was a waitress working very hard. Always volunteering for overtime to earn extra income. He too worked hard in a factory for long hours. The seldom get to see each other because of their working hours. They ended up miserable, tired, sickly and not earning enough. They joined the business and worked hard for 1 year (if I’m not mistaken) and now they are earning a 5 figure income monthly. Their urgency of wanting to spend more time with each other and wanting to fulfill their dream of earning more to get rich got them their success. Now husband and wife happily work together everyday to build their future.

Story 2

He is married and wanted to get rich. He came to Singapore and rented a room. He left his wife and pet in the care of his relatives. He had to work hard because he was broke. If he didn’t make any business for the day, he will either have no food or have to eat cheap instant noodles. It’s a do or die situation. He could go back a failure or he would have not fulfilled his promise to his wife and family. He said that if not for being in that situation, he would have relaxed and procrastinated and end up not doing well in his business. He now earns a comfortable 5 figure income and is on the way to earning a six figure income monthly.

Story 3

He started his business thinking that with his experience as a salesperson, he will be able to do well in his business. With the economic down turn, he lost everything. He became a bankrupt over night. As he was quiet old, he couldn’t land himself a decent paying job. His wife and him struggled but couldn’t keep up with the expenses. They have 2 kids and one more coming. Their utilities was cut off a few times. He was then introduced to the business. They worked hard and got through some rough spots with whatever loan then can get. Within 6 months, they were financially free. Earning a 5 figure income monthly.

These people would not have made it if not for their sense of urgency. The reason why others fail, it is because we have no sense of urgency and are too comfortable. We know that we have a safety net. For without that safety net, we could do as well as these people in the stories. We all fail because we procrastinated. Now think about it. Your children are waiting for you to get rich. They want notebooks, mp3 players, ipods, handphones, a car, bigger house. Your wife wants a bigger house, more money to spend, a car etc.. Your parents and parents in-law are waiting for you to provide them a better life. How long more can they wait for all these. The answer is actually yesterday. Yes. Yesterday. Not now. Not tomorrow. Tomorrow is already too late. You should have provided them with what they want yesterday. What about your needs too. Debts, Loans etc.. So actually we are all late and owe too much and must a real sense of urgency to succeed. You can’t get rich tomorrow. Now. Now. Now is the time to start to changing. If not now then when? Tomorrow will never come. Tomorrow is too late. Contact me now to start to learn how to get rich together NOW!

Why put off something you can do TODAY till tomorrow. Tomorrow never come.

All of us study hard and then try to land ourselves a good job with ‘good’ pay. Hoping to save enough when the time comes when there is enough for us to stop working and start a business. Problem with his plan is that it will not materialize for most of us. We end up miserable and having to work for the rest of our lives to just go on living. The dreams of striking it rich, having a business etc… will go up in smoke and remain a dream. Even for most of us, the business will fail because of the lack of experience and we lose our life savings. That’s why I decided to start a part-time business with little investment. That way, if I fail I still have an income to support me and my family. I can learn the ropes and gain the experience. In a few years time when my business kicks off, I’ll be ready to take it to a higher level and can do it full time without fear or inexperience. Contact me and I will help you start your part-time homebased business step by step asap. Procrastination will prolong your suffering.

Selling. Being Sold

Everyone sells and are being sold things, ideas, concepts, beliefs etc…. Let me elaborate.

Your job. When you went for the interview years back, you were selling yourself. Trying to convince the employer that you are the best person for the job. The employer sold the job to you in exchange for salary.

Look around you. Everything you posses were sold to you. You were sold on the idea that you need to study hard, work hard to get a better life. Who sold you that idea? Hmmmm…. You sell your ideas to your children when you try to convince the little tot he/she needs to eat vegetables to grow up strong and healthy. Think about it. We all sell something or are being sold. Even telling someone about that great movie you just saw, exciting book you read, delicious food you just ate…. You are selling your ideas to who ever you telling it to. So, no need to feel bad or guilty if you need to make a sales or are selling something. It’s human nature. Now. Imagine if you’re paid every time you sell something etc….. You’ll be rich. But in reality you’re not. Why? Contact me and I’ll teach you how.

Can you fail in this business?

Of course. There’s a few reason why people fail.

People don’t work. ie – they make the investment, get registered, do nothing and then they expect the money to roll in. Or they work a bit and expect the money to roll in. These people may claim that they tried the business but it will not work. They know nothing about the business because they didn’t even start doing, learning or trying it.

People have the wrong expectations. They expect to earn $10,000 within the first month. You need time to learn and for the result to materialize. That will take time and of course some hard work. Rome was not built in 1 day. There is no free lunch.

People give up. Of course there will be rejections, down time. Not everyone have the same taste, needs etc. So, not everyone will say yes to you. Some people buy Sony, some Toshiba etc…

People don’t want to learn. With all the trainings and mentoring, some still refuse to attend any. Some join the business and has their own ideas on how to do the business. They do it their way which will definitely fail.

People don’t do what they learn. Some attend all the trainings but don’t execute it correctly and do it their way. They think that they are better than the trainers or coaches.

People are not willing to invest. Be it for training, advertisements, stocks etc. Mind you, you are running a business. You will definitely need to invest.

People are impatient. They work a few months and invest a bit but they expect the result to be 10 or 20 fold. They lose hope and claims that the business is not working.

People do unethical stuff. These are the ones who dream up and create a bad name for the industry. Once caught, they will be terminated.

People stop working. They work hard for some time. Have success and built some team members. Success got to their head. They stop working and start managing. They start telling everyone to work, work, work while they laze around all day hoping for the money to roll in.

There may be some other reasons but as long as you work hard, keep learning and improving, stay positive, persevere and execute what you’re learnt. There will definitely be success.

Job vs Business now?

I’ve sort of discussed this earlier but this is slightly different. Question to ponder is whether to stick with your job now and start a business later when you have enough disposable income or quit your job and start a business now. Traditionally most people work and save as much as they can and start a business after retirement with some of that savings. Problem these days is that not much people can have enough savings to start a business when they retire. The disadvantage of starting a business later is that you have to learn from scratch how to run a business. Mind you that being knowledgeable in a certain trade or industry does not guarantee success in running a business. Most lose their money. A good balance is to start a business part-time now when you still have a job and some stable income. Should your business fail, it will not be the end of the world financially for you. Besides a home business requires a low start up and there will be trainings to teach you how to run your business. A home business provides you with all the necessary support to learn the business at your pace. On the job training. Mentoring from a host of people. Risks are therefore low. When your business is doing well, then you can turn full time to get better results. Anyway the potential benefits of running a home business totally outweighs having job/jobs. More time with family, save money on transport going to work, work with the people you like, financial freedom, total control over your income etc..

What are the products your business is selling?

I get this question many times when I talk to people. They are more concern about products rather than having a good business system, support, training etc…. You can have the best product in the world but if you don’t know how to promote it, you will surely fail. They got to look at the bigger picture. You’re running a business. The success of a business depends on lots of factors. I read in a book recently about a top notch chef thinking that he will be successful just because he cooks the best meal but failed when he started his restaurant business. So, he can cook up the best tasting meal in the world but if he doesn’t know how to run a business correctly, he will fail in his venture.

But I will still answer this question here. The products I promote are affordable and consumable. It is sold internationally and sales from so called ‘poor’ nations are in the millions. So if people from these countries can afford it, definitely people from better off countries like Singapore or Malaysia can afford it.

She’s so lucky. She knew this fellow and that fellow. She got a big break. That’s why she got successful and Rich. Not me. I don’t have any of those. I’m so unlucky. If I got a big break, I’ll grab it and get Rich too.

This one tickles me all the time. Ever heard this statement? I’ve heard it in all the places that I’ve worked at previously. Do you think it was luck or her knowing someone in higher places that got her Rich? People who got Rich knows what they want and what they’re suppose to do. They have prepared themselves with the necessary skills needed when the ‘big break’ comes along. Because they’re always looking for the big break and knows what it is, they can spot it miles away. Others can’t even see it if it was presented it to them on a silver platter right in front of their noses. Networking with others is also important for a chance to get the big break.

There are so many negative reports and positive ones too… I’m not sure…..

This is a common thing. Let’s just think for a while. Is there anything perfect in this world? Guess not. There’s bound to be some negative press about anything. Did Obama won the election 100%? No! There some bad press out there about him, his administration, etc. What about Singapore’s PAP??? Let me get you in on a secret. A huge percentage of the world’s population is negative and the rest are positive. Another shocking stat. A huge percentage of the world’s population is not Rich and the rest are Rich. A huge percentage of the things people say are opinions and the rest are facts. Now, there’s always pros and cons to anything. It’s up to you to decide. You just got to be discerning.

I’ve got all the facts I need to make a decision. Let me think about it…. But ……

This is the classics. How many times have you heard this? At Work? At the shopping Centre? …. Everywhere… Procrastination. Sitting on the fence. These are the people who always wonder why others are successful and not them. They can never come to a decision. They analyse too much. By the time they do come to an actual decision, others have moved ahead or something else better and they get poor results because its too late. Procrastinators sit on the fence and expect something to happen. If you do nothing, nothing will happen. These people live regretting almost everything. So if you really want to get Rich, you must make upfront quick decision. Yes or No. Just decide and move on.

Your success depends on your sponsor’s results

This is one of the greatest myths I have come across. Think about it. Does how well another person do affect how well you do? Isn’t that absurd? Lots of people doing any kind of business like to ask you how well you’re doing. If he can’t do it, so can’t I. Duh! What about all the others who did it and became successful. You got to face it. Nobody is good at everything. Some can sing but some can’t etc… What really matters is that, you must really find out how those people became successful. What did they really do? Are you willing to do what they did? If yes, then probably, you can be like them. Also find out what makes others fail and don’t do what they did. Simple. You got to work hard. If it was so easy to become Rich, then how come a few are actually Rich. You got to find out what’s the ‘X’ factor and then just copy that and you’ll get Rich too. But you must do what they did. If not knowing it defeats the purpose.

I tried this before and it doesn’t work. I know what this industry is all about, it’ll not work.

There’s many reason how come some fail while others find it so easy and succeed. First, you will have to work hard. This industry is not a ‘get rich quick scheme’. Successful people all around the world puts in lots of effort before they taste success. The road ahead is hard but it will be definitely worth it. There will definitely be some ‘bumps’ along the way. Let’s face it, Success is sweeter when you overcome failure. If you read about all the success stories of the rich and famous, you’ll notice that they all overcome some setbacks before they really tasted success. Successful people also don’t give up. They will try and try until the succeed. Stats. shows that the people who fail are those who tried once, some even half hearted, and give up and then proclaim that it is not for them. They blame everything except themselves. Ever come across these people. The ones who complain about everything. The ones who blames everything and everyone. They’re always right. Others are wrong. They are the victim. There a lots of these people out there. I too was like that to some degree. We all have some of these traits in us. The difference is that I decide to do something to change that. Do you want to be successful and wealthy. Then you must change or you will always get what you’re getting and experiencing now. Take control of your life. Don’t let others decide or do it for you. You can do it, only if you want and do something about it. So don’t listen to all these negative stuff.

Why so secretive? Why can’t you just answer all my questions?

Let me throw back a question. Do all business men sit around all day long waiting to answer all queries and can any business be done by just doing that? The answer is a definitely no. Business people don’t sit around waiting answering queries. It will be a waste of time. They’re out there looking for business. Time is limited and precious. They can’t just answer all queries. There are hundreds and thousands people with queries. The business person can’t entertain everyone, so he has time to only to talk to the really potential serious ones. There will be a selection process before he really gets down to the potential few that he can spend time to seriously talk to. Just like applying for a job, the candidate fills up the job application form and attaches a resume to it. The company will then sift through all the forms and select some potential job applicant to go for 1 or a few rounds of interview. There’s where the manager will have time to really sit down and ‘talk’ to the potential candidates and choose the most suitable one for the company. Mind you, this is a process for just an employee. If the position for hire is of a higher one, the selection will be more stringent. The business men don’t just pick anyone and everyone to join him to do business. In this industry, he will have to be very sure if you are the right person to work with for many years to come. Will you be the one worth spending time, money and effort to be groomed into one business man? Will you be an asset or a liability to him? No point answering all the queries, talking about the business for an hour and finding out that you may not want to do it or are not suitable for the position at the end of it. And that is just one person. What about the other hundreds and thousands more? There’s simply no time unless you prove you are worth the time talking to at a later stage of the selection. Reality check, not everyone’s cut out to do business.

It is a pyramid scheme. Only the one on top will earn.

As explained in my earlier post. A scheme is when there are no products or services involved. As for pyramid, every organization has a pyramid structure. You have the CEO at the top, followed by the vice presidents, then the managers, supervisors and lastly the ‘ordinary’ staff. In this case, yes, the CEO will always earn more than any other under him. In network marketing, if A is earning the cut of 10 people and B who is under A, is earning cuts from 100 people. Definitely B will earn more than A, even thou B is under A. Fair, right? B has worked harder and produce 10x more than A. So B deserve it. If only the corporate wage structure was as fair as this?

After they ‘recruit’ you, they will not help you as promised.

Think about it. For the person (A) who ‘recruited’ others to get a ‘cut’, don’t you think A will neglect his ‘recruits’? In order for A to earn more, A will have to help the others do well. So neglecting the ‘recruits’ doesn’t make sense, right?

In your industry, the person who started first will earn the most.

Yes but not necessarily so. Provided they continue to work. This is a fair system. The harder you work, the more you get paid. There are many people who have other people whom they ‘recruited’ earning more than them. Some have even surpassed the person who ‘recruited’ them. Wouldn’t this be great in the corporate world where you get paid on what you achieve? As in the example given earlier about the shop, the person will only get a ‘cut’ if they also produce a certain target amount.

You must sell the products/services

Actually what is a sale? It’s a fair exchange between money a product/service. You want something eg. TV and you exchange(pay) it for money. You get what you want and the company sells it for a profit. The sales person gets a cut (paid) for helping the company to ‘sell’ it you. In this industry, you don’t actually sell the products/services. You use the superior products/services and enjoyed the benefits of using it. Just recommend it to your friends, relatives and family and you’ll made a profit. Imagine if you just eaten something very nice and you tell all the people you know about it. You actually get nothing if they buy from the shop. But in this industry, you’ll get a profit, cut etc.. if your recommend friends buys the company’s products/services just like the shop example. So in fact, you are not selling but just sharing.

Of course if your friends don’t want to buy from you, don’t force them.

You’ll be forced to buy the company’s products/services

Usually the products/services of these companies are of superior quality to compete against other competitors. So in order to promote the products/services, you are encourage to use them yourself. And why not? Getting superior products/services at a discount saves you lots of money. Right? Most importantly when you promote the products to your friends and family, it sounds more credible if you’re using it yourself. Imagine that you’re a BMW car sales man. After doing your pitch to your potential customers – saying things like “This is the best car, it has this, it has that ..blah blah”, the customer then turns around and ask you if you’re driving a BMW and you answer, “No. I’m driving a Volvo … for what ever reasons…” do you think you’ll be able to sell the BMW car? What about your credibility? So its logical that you use what you promote, right? Not doing so is suicidal, right?

You must attend endless training, meetings and seminars.

So manufacturers of these products/service needs to make sure that the people they ‘recruit’ knows exactly how to promote their products/services and run the business legitimately. They therefore have a set or rules and regulations, trainings and meetings. Just like going for a business course, diploma, degree …, you will have to learn how to run your business properly. As you learn as you earn, therefore you will have weekly, monthly and yearly trainings, meetings and seminars. Yes, you can skip the trainings or meetings. It’s like skipping your lessons that you are suppose to attend while attending a course. Would you miss it? What happens if you miss it? So if you want to get better in your business, you’ll attend all the trainings, meetings and seminars, right? And of course these are not free. You pay a nominal fee for the venue, support staff, equipment, trainers fee etc.. and the rest the company pays for. Fair?

You must pay a joining fee.

As you are ‘recruited’ to run this ‘business’, you’ll need a business license. So like any business license, you will have to pay a minimal annual fee. Some may call it a ‘joining fee’. But it’s actually a business license annual fee which all businesses have to pay to operate. So if you want to ‘run’ your business, you must pay for the annual license fee. This is an accepted government ruling.

The business is illegal. It’s a scam.

Let me explain how this industry works. Imagine you going shopping at a shop. To get more sales, the shop has a promotion – buy 2 and get 10% discount. Buy 4 and get 15% discount. The more you buy, the more discount you’ll get. Now that work fine for both parties. The shop gets more sales and turn over their stock and you get your groceries at a cheaper price. So if you sell it to someone at full price, you’ll make a profit of 10%, 15%... Now the shop decides that they want to turn over their stocks faster. So they tell you, their regular customer, if you help them get more customers like yourself by recommending your friends to buy from them instead of their competitor, you’ll get a 5% cut of the total purchase price of your friends. To qualify for this eg. 5%, cut you must purchase a certain amount so that you also continue to shop with them. So the more your friends you recommend, the more you’ll earn. So if the shop wants to turn over their stocks even faster, they’ll extend it to your friends’ friends and you’ll get maybe a lower cut of their total sales. So if you want to earn more, you recommend more friends and also help your friend’s friend ….. to buy from the shop. In this scenario, everybody wins. Notice that there is nothing illegal here. Nothing unethical is carried out also. Marketers have realized that this method creates more sales and help them save lots of money on advertising, cutting out the middle man in the distribution channel etc… It’s a brand new marketing method and lots of organizations are catching on and are turning to this sort of marketing strategy. If you don’t know what this strategy is called, then good for you and if you think you know what this strategy is called, good for you too. It comes with many names. Network Marketing, Multilevel Marketing (MLM), Direct Marketing, Direct sales, Home business etc..

Notice that for all these to work, everybody is promoting/selling a product or service. It only becomes a scam when there are no products or services involved. Just joining for a fee and then ‘recruiting’ and getting a cut for it.

The homebased business. Work from Home. Network Marketing. MLM. Direct Marketing.

I like to now discuss some of these. For those who know about this, I hope you agree with me. And for those who don’t know much about this, I hope that you get a better understanding about what all these are. This business is called many different ‘tags’ as you can see from the heading. If you want to find a legitimate one you should look for a company that is a member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) in every country. Of course I joined a company that is a member of the DSAS (Direct Selling Association of Singapore). Some of the things I write may be harsh, but I do it so as to make a point. If you want to find out more you can go to any book shop and get a book on any of this topic. Robert Kiyosaki books, Business School and Rich Dad Poor Dad, also offer some explanation on this industry. So let’s look at some of my discussion.

Wellness

Now that you know why I’m doing this Homebased business, I hope you’ll understand what most of the people in this industry aim to do. Of course, not everyone has the same dream. Some may be about the same or totally different. Another pulling factor is that my Homebased business is related to the wellness industry. I’ve not been very healthy when I joined. I was spending $100 or more on supplements monthly and on top of that about $50 per month on medical bills. So, why not? I can get healthy and wealthy at the same time. Prevention is better than cure. The concept is simple. You are what you eat. The problem is the food these days lacks the nutrients that we require daily. We are consuming way too much of the stuff that make our body sick. You might argue that you eat a well balance meal everyday. Everybody knows and claims that they eat well balanced meal everyday. If that is so, then why is obesity a global epidemic? Illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, heart diseases, stroke etc… are on the rise. There must be something wrong. I certainly don’t want to take my chances. Our life span is increasing. I don’t want to live the rest of my life sickly, unfit, unwell and suffering from all these illnesses. Of course I’m not saying that eating well will solve the problem. There are other factors that contribute to a healthy body like having enough sleep and rest, drinking enough water, exercising etc… Improving in one of these aspect will definitely help me improve my health. Imagine if I make improvements in all these. Chances are I’ll grow old healthily. Don’t you agree? That’s what I like about this industry. I learn to live my life healthily. What a bonus. Just for doing this business. Not everyone who works on a job or does something else gets these perks.

Home Business vs Traditional Business

Apart from the obvious, No rental, there are more advantages to having a Home Business against the traditional Business. These are the other reasons that I prefer a Home Business. No employee problems or cost. I had no experience or know how of running a business. And there’s no one to teach or guide me unlike the Home Business that I joined. There is no need to source for raw materials, invest in methods to convert the raw materials into finished goods. No need to do market research on industry, product, target market etc… I couldn’t afford the startup cost of starting a traditional business. I could start the Home Business for a fraction of the startup cost of starting a traditional business. The operating cost of running a Home Business is much lower than a traditional business. The Home Business deals with consumables and therefore I will get a regular source of income monthly. Too much hassle to start a traditional business and a high chance of failure and thus losing whatever investment made. I think it best explained by Robert Kiyosaki’s in his books Business School, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cash Flow Quadrant.

The Homebased Business I’m doing vs Other Home Business

Yes. I believe there’s lots of other opportunities similar to what I’m doing right now. They are all good one’s too. If not then, how will they have survived so long and doing so well. I’ve always tried to do as much as I can and ended up being a jack of all trades and master of none. Therefore, since I have already joined and put in a lot of effort into the Home Business that I’m doing right now, I see no point in trying out another. Because I’ll end up starting all over again, learning from scratch and building from ground up. And if I’ll keep doing that then, I’ll never get successful. Go to as many presentations of the home business as you can. Then decide on one that you feel you best like and are comfortable with. Then invest your time money and effort to building your business. Of course there are good and bad comments for each home business. No business is perfect but remember this – every home business has its success stories. I’ve been to a few but I chosen one that I like. You should do that too. Of course since you’re reading my blog, why not join me. I always welcome anyone serious and motivated enough to join me. It’s my dream to help people especially people who were bullied when then were in a job. I believe in justice. Contact me thru me email if you’re really interested. Be prepared to work hard though. Home Business vs Real Estate, Insurance, Other types of investment

Yup. Lots of people making money in these areas. I tried real estate from 2 different agencies. Didn’t work out for me. Too competitive. It’s a dog eat dog world out there. Besides I didn’t have the wheels to perform out there. I too don’t have any extra property to rent out to make money from. Tried the futures market but got burned. What I’ve learnt about stocks and shares. I read from one of Robert Kiyosaki’s books – It goes something like this “If you got the time, learn how to do it right. If not then get some trustworthy expert in the field to help you with your investment.” You may need lots of cash to do it well. Be prepared to loose everything. High risk, High gain. Low risk, low gains. When I made enough next time with my Home Business, I’ll try it. But for now, I don’t have the financial power to. With the banking and Insurance powerhouse not doing well, I’ll skip this. Anyway, I personally don’t like the idea of getting the money after death. Even with Endowment plans or anything like that, the returns are not as good as what I’m able to get from a Home Business. Forget about earning from your savings from any bank. The interest rates are too low.

Home Business vs Internet Marketing

Yes. This is one controversial and disputed area. I know lots of people are making lots of money doing Internet Marketing. These are just my opinions and personal views. I’ve tried some or at least learnt how it works. Affiliate Marketing, Ebook, Ebay, Surveys, reading emails etc… Problem you really need to learn how these works. Most need investment of time and money. Made some from surveys. Problem – once a quota has been reached, the survey will no longer be available. Can’t earn much here.

As for reading emails, the payment is so little that if you want to make a decent living out of it you have to really spend lots of time reading emails. Good for people who wants to have some extra income.

Ebook – write about something that you’re good at and that netizens want and are willing to pay for. Problem with this is that there are already many people who have written good ebooks already. Besides, once you have written a good ebook and made some from it, you cannot always depend on that ebook alone to live on forever. You need to write many ebooks. Therefore you need to be quite good in many things. Research on topics and learning something new to write an ebook competently is too much of a hassle for me.

Others need lots of research to find a niche area. Simple concept – Buy low, sell high to make profits. Too much hassle for overseas orders. There are many others. What I faced was the lack of support when you’re doing all these. There’s no real training, support, guidance, mentoring etc.. You are basically on your own.

I know there lots of successful people doing these internet marketing out there but I find that its not for me even though I’m quite IT savvy.

Home Business vs Getting another job, 2 or more jobs

Quote from “Jim Rohn – Profits are better than wages.”

Yup, being over 40 years does offer its challenges when it comes to getting a well paid job. A very popular joke about getting a job is its acronym JOB – Just Over Broke. That was what I’ve experienced before. After deducting all my monthly bills I hardly had any money left to save or sometimes even negative. This cannot go on especially as my children were growing older and rising cost of living. Forget about getting a 2nd job when I can’t even land myself with a job. We all work hard. But all that hard work has come to naught. Think about it, everyone’s working hard to get to the top. Do you think there’s enough top positions for everyone? Let’s say, that for every manager, there’s 50 people waiting to take over him. How long do you think you have to wait? 5, 10 or more years? And when he does vacate the position, only one out of 50 employees will be promoted. The other 49 will have to wait until the newly promoted managers leaves in another 5 – 10 years time. How long can the others wait? By the time it is your turn, you might be too old, out of date, not suitable etc.. You’re going to be stuck in your job until you retire. And when that happens do you think you’ll have enough to live on with whatever you have saved. Let’s say the average person in Singapore can live on till 80 and you retire at age 60. Do you think you’ll have enough savings and CPF to live comfortably or even enjoy what you have worked so hard all those years for? You probably will have to beg to stay on the job or even get a lower grade and pay job. You may even have to work for the rest of your lives. Is that a good picture?

Another advantage of a Home Business is the income opportunity. Let’s just say you work hard and everything falls into place. How much will you be able to earn in 10, 20 years? 5K, 10K tops. It’s very low as compared to a Home Business with an income opportunity (of course if you work hard and do it right) of 6 figures or more in 10 or 20 years time. I’ve known people doing it in less then 10 years.

Other advantages are. You get to work anytime, anywhere and for how long as you like. Just like Diploma or Degree courses, do a bit more and you get 2 diplomas/degrees, doing the Home Business, you get multiple streams of income. You also get better rewards and remunerations. You don’t have anyone to boss you around. You choose who you want to work with. You work with positive and like minded people. Birds of the same feather flock together. Poor people think poor and do things that makes them poor. Rich people think rich and do things that makes them rich. Who do you want to mix with? You don’t really have to work that hard to get to the top. Team work gets you to the top unlike all the red tape and office politics of a job. I initially did got a job after 1 year of being retrenched but quit 1 year later due to all the negative stuff from a job. No need to elaborate here. Everyone know it.

What I did after being retrenched.

Actually I was quite lucky. I was tipped off a few months before it happened. I then frantically seriously searched for another job (natural reaction). But I always knew that I will never get rich by being just an employee. Or if I was one I must at least be among the top executives of the company. I had no chance due to my educational background and previous work experiences. But somehow like everyone else I still looked for another job. The only difference now is that I also looked into business opportunities. I’ve read books and always knew that if you want to get rich, you got to get yourself into some sort of business. Look at all the rich people in the world. Almost all of them are making money from some sort of business or investment. I’ll share with you my options and why I chose starting a Homebased Business.

My present and Future

I’m currently a stay home dad. I was retrenched 5 years ago. I’m doing a homebased business since. Results were not too bad but not fantastic too. After the first year doing it, I manage to get a job. Did the job for a year. Then quit because I could take all the back stabbing, politics etc. Refocus on my business but not that seriously. Saw lots of people come and go. But also saw lots of people doing well. Earning 5 or 6 figure incomes after a few years. Found out that I did some major mistakes along the way. So this year, I’ll be focusing seriously on my business. Not make the same mistakes. If I stick to my plan, I will definitely get what I want. To earn at least a million dollars in 5 years time. At least 50% of this would be fantastic. I would never be able to achieve it if I was still stuck in the Rat Race. My next few ‘topics’ will go in depth why I stuck on after 5 years of average business. My thoughts about my future, plans, objectives and goals.

Marriage and children

It was the greatest day of my life. Married the girl of my dreams. Did you married the girl or guy of your dreams? It was great while it lasted. It came with a huge cost though. Wedding expenses, honeymoon, house, renovation and after a while - children. You put all your resources to build a better future for them. Wait a minute. What about your career, your freedom, your life, your enjoyment ….??? More responsibilities. More expenses. Less time for yourself. Less time for your spouse. What about parents? Oh no! more headache. I have 2 kids. In spite of all these, it was worth it to have kids. The joy and satisfaction they bring outweighs any setbacks.

JOBs. The Rat Race.

After school and doing whatever best job you can get, you try to continue to upgrade, put in extra hours to get ahead of your colleagues to move up the ladder. Ask yourself, why do we do that? I wanted to do that to get into a higher level to get the so called easier life and better pay. Remember this ‘EASIER LIFE, MORE MONEY’ Isn’t it the ultimate aim of everyone? Don’t you want it? Are you working hard so that you’ll get it? Mum always tell me, “You have no choice. You want money? You want a better future? Like it or not, you got to do whatever job that pays well or have better career prospects” I will always argue with her. I have always believed that the future can’t be that bad. I should be able to land myself a job that I like doing, get paid well and gets easier as I move up. Duh! Reality check. That was only a dream. I would really have to work very hard, get lucky breaks, study for another 10 years to get a Degree, MBA …. Where am I going to get all that money from for all these? My brain was getting tired from all the continued studying over the years just to get some Diplomas. My body is getting tired from all the work, overtime, learning & studying and exams. When will this end? I was really tired everyday. Are you experiencing the same thing? It then dawn upon me that getting to the top is not that easy. Everyone is doing what I’m doing. Some of my company I worked for hired someone from outside the organization instead of promoting from within. Do your sums here. For every department, how many employees are there? They are all waiting for a chance to get promoted when the department head resigns, retires, gets promoted or retrenched. If you are the head, you will want to move further up or stay there for as long as you can. So what are the chances of all the employees? Very slim. Maybe 1 or 2 will get promoted. The rest will reach retirement without realizing their career aspirations. Job hopping will not help much too. Wake up NOW! Get out of the Rat Race. Like a race there will be only 1 winner and lots of losers. Please! I beg of you. For your sake and your family get out of the Rat Race, unless you are 110% sure you win the race. It might be too late when some people realize that their dreams will never come true. They will be too old to challenge the younger and energetic ones. You will have to work for the rest of your miserable lives just to survive. And what do we teach our children? What we’re doing now. 100% failure. I got retrenched after working faithfully for 5 years. My spouse got retrenched twice. Can’t blame the company. It’s you or the survival of the company. You will surely choose the latter if you were the owner of the company.

My Past. Ideals. Hope. Dreams. Income. Expenses

When I was young, mum always taught me to study hard, get good grades, work hard, continue upgrading yourself, stand on your own 2 feet and my future will be good. That was old school. Or that worked in the past but not in the present or future. I tried all I can. Chalking up huge debts for courses, Diplomas etc… How many of you are doing this? Or are trying this? I’m not against education but I think that whatever is invested on Diplomas, Degrees, MBAs, PHDs. etc…. will definitely not guarantee that you’ll have a bright future. It certainly didn’t work for me. It left me with a huge debt but a job with no security and pay not enough to pay for all my monthly expenses. By the way, expenses have been increasing every year. The transport fares, food, utilities, property, taxes etc … How are you going to keep up financially? Pay freeze, pay cut etc…. At this rate expenses will outstrip your take home pay. That was happening to me. The future looked bleak back then.

Introduction

Hi. My name is Terrence and I work from home running my Homebased Business. I’m a home maker or some might call it a 'house husband'. My wife is temporarily working but helping me with my business part-time. I’m 45 years young now! Some people might applaud me for doing what I’m doing but some will just say I’m crazy. Well everyone is entitled to their opinions. “Live and let live”, I’ll say.

6 years back I’ll be like the group who think what I’m doing is an absolute No No! I’ll soon get to the part on why I’m doing what I’m doing now and will persevere and continue until I reach my ultimate goal – Total Freedom! What is Total Freedom you might ask? Most will think that Financial Freedom is what I should aim for. To me Total Freedom is Financial Freedom and the freedom to do anything I choose to. To me being financially free only means that I’m can afford to spend anything I like. It does not cover any other thing that I’ll be free to do. Some people are financially free but they must keep working to stay financially free. That to me is not good enough. Some might agree some might not. Well, you can’t please everyone.
I’ll share some of my past, present and future (possibilities) that changed me from a pessimist to an optimist. Some of you might be able to relate to it but some might not. Some of the topics may be controversial. No holds barred. Tell it all information about what I’m doing. I’ll hope you’ll understand. So here goes.
